Conversation with my kids tonight:
Deb: That joke that Ruth Ann sent today was funny.
Nate: Yeah. “No, en Estados Unidos” Ha, ha.
Ellie: Are you talking about me?
Deb: No, honey, we’re laughing about a joke in Spanish.
Ellie: Siso.
Deb: What?
Ellie: Siso. That’s a word in Spanish.
Deb: Oh. Okay. (Note: It’s not. BUt there’s no fighting her on this sort of thing.)
Ellie: How do you say “table” in Spanish?
Deb: Mesa
Scotty: Plato!
Ellie: How do you say “paper” in Spanish?
Deb: Papel
Scotty: Plato!
Ellie: How do you say “napkin” in Spanish?
Deb: Servilleta
Scotty: Plato!
The only word Scotty knows in Spanish is plato. On the up side, he only uses it when we’re speaking Spanish, so apparently he knows it IS Spanish. The only word Ellie knows in Spanish is mas. If you don’t count siso. We really need to get back to Argentina.

I now understand siso! How fun.
