The following is from an email Nate sent out recently (He gave me permission to post it here for everyone):
Hey team,
I know many of you were expecting an update last week, and I encouraged you to just praise God. I figured that praise would be the most effective tool we have for seeing and realizing God’s will. Here’s what’s going that I didn’t want to go into last week.
Many of you know that we are supposed to go back to Argentina in September. Really, we can’t wait. We are DYING to get back. Unfortunately, things are up in the air. As you know, our teammate Rich Elledge still needs to find a job to replace the one he lost last December. While Rich and Jil have been green lit to stay in language school the rest of the year (PRAISE GOD!), it has been decided (and rightly so), that it doesn’t make sense for us to head to Argentina if we’ll only have to come home again in 6 months. So, until Rich gets a job (or $17,000+ in support), we aren’t leaving. This is obviously difficult for us. But there is no response except to pray. Here’s what we need prayer for:
1. That Rich gets a job. Rich was a Business Analyst for technology company focusing on the financial services industry. Part of a software development team responsible for web-based credit card processing software with MSSQL database. He’s seeking about 20 hours of work a week that can be done remotely from Argentina. If you want a resume, please write us.
2. That we find some other solution. Deb and I are also exploring employment possibilities.
3. That we have wisdom as to when to go back, and what to do with ourselves if we don’t. Currently, we are extremely busy until September 14th. After that date, it is our chief desire to be useful. All my projects with the mission will be finished before that date, so there is no small question of how to best use us.
4. That God works to show us what to do if Rich doesn’t get a job. Essentially, if Rich doesn’t find work he can do from Argentina by the end of the year, our team will shift focus to finding an appropriate place to do Hispanic church planting here in the US. That will mean finding a city, housing and jobs. In one sense, we don’t want to think about this too hard yet, but it is a real possibility, so it requires prayer.
So there it is. August 10th is the dead line for us to head to Argentina on time. If there is no job by then, we wait. It won’t go on forever, and at the latest in 6 or 7 months we will all be together moving somewhere to fulfill God’s call on our lives. If we can’t praise God for that, then there is something wrong with us!
Pray hard,
Nate and Deb
