I’ve been AWOL on the blog for awhile now, for no other reason than just forgetting or not mustering up enough energy when I would remember. So, an update:
The 3rd trimester of language school began at the beginning of September, and it began on a rough note for me. Basically, I’ve had a rough time with the langauge and so the the Mission allowed me to withdraw from school in order to see a professional tutor one on one. This has made the biggest (read that hugest) differnece for me. First off this guy is a gifted teacher, he knows what he’s doing and he’s great at it. Secondly, prior to this my spirit was crushed, since being with this tutor I have been encouraged and given a second wind. I love going to class every day! I’ve got alot of hard work ahead of me still in order to speak and communicate well in Spanish, but I’m getting it and am getting a great foundation.
With my withdrawl from the institute has come a bit of a schedule change, for the better I think. M-F Class is from 9:00am to 11:00am. M and F I return home right away so that Tara can leave and have extra time to study. Her class is from 1:00 – 2:00pm every day. I watch the kids until about 4:30 when Tara returns home and then I’m able to relax a bit. T and W right after class I go downtown and study and talk with spanish speaking friends. I return home about 4:00pm. (We have someone else watch the kids from 1-3 T-TH). Th I travel to another friends house (Tico) and we have a Bible Study together (We have been reading through John)–All in Spanish!
Also, this last month we purchased return tickets to the States. We’ll return on Dec. 8th and will be working on our Visa’s for Argentina, we plan (hopefully) to fly to Argentina by the end of January.
We shaved Malachi’s head.
(WHAT!)
Yea, it’s taken a few days to get used to it.
Nate and Deb have returned to Argentina and are searching for housing, first for themselves and then for us and the Elledges.
I came in 2nd place in my fantasy baseball league.
Hmm, what else? Zeke has had the same bump on his head for about a month! He keeps falling and hitting the same friggin spot time and time again. We started calling him “Beluga Boy”. He fell again on it 2 days ago, geesh!
Elijah can now swing himself on a swing…how exciting!
Until later…
