Today we divided in groups in the morning and set out to do our prayer walks. Butch and I walked with Tara through her community and prayed for specific people that they are in the process of building relationships. Then after lunch we went with Brian on another walk through the community focusing on the spiritual warfare challenges facing La Plata. As we walked Brian pointed out the shrine to Gouchito Gil. This was an area where people set up little statues of Gouchito and leave wine, flowers, and small decorations at his feet as gifts. They hope he will answer their prayers. Brian explained that this shrine is expanding daily and growing in popularity.
The people in La Plata also have many healers which are called Curanders. These are basically witch doctors. Our culture would considered this foolishness but in La Plata even physicians will recommend these witch doctors if they can’t determine a patient condition.
Brian shared with us that in La Plata the religions here discourage people from reading the bible and sometimes even forbid them from reading the bible.
We came home and had a gathering to worship and pray then we went over the days activities.

I am praying for you Ruth. I know you to be a strong prayer warrior, and from reading these posts you are very much needed there. I know you will make a lot of kids smile tomorrow – you’ve had a lot of practice with your grandchildren. Love ya!
Ruth, It is such a joy reading your reports and so appreciate your participating in the spiritual warfare there for our Lord Jesus. He will continue giving you the victory!
Love and cotinuing prayers with you,
Jan Owen
