What a day!

Fancy pants restaurant

Our first day “in the field”, we found ourselves walking the streets of LaPlata, seeing and praying for the acquaintances of the team here.   We saw many unusual things, and the houses were very unlike what we would expect to see.   There are no neighborhoods as such, as most people build their houses in the yards of their family members.

As we walked, we prayed for the people and their families and their businesses.   We discussed some of the issues facing the people here, including saint and idol worship and false gods.  It was wonderful to pray for these people and these issues.

As we walked through the streets (literally – sidewalks are few and far between!) as we learned more of the area, we can truly see why the Lord would bring missionaries to this community, and we can see where this team (the permanent team) fits in and their presence here is greatly needed.

Throughout the walking, I had a song running through my head and used it as part of my prayers “So remember your children, remember your people, remember your promise, Oh God.”

I’m sure others have written about the trip to the “fancy pants” restaurant, and I will only add that once again, I’m positive I could never be a vegetarian — after devouring about nine pounds of beef prepared a variety of ways.

I’ve added a few pictures and I’m sure we will add more as we get through the week.

Thanks for all the prayers – know that they ARE being heard and felt!

sticker shock!
