Hora Feliz – Day 4

Our God is awesome God…He reigns…What a day!  Today we did two Hora Felices.  We had three of the group, Gary, Herb, and Jackie, as clowns.  We had candy and balloons to hand out.  Hugo, an Argentine man and his wife Luisa came from Bueno Aires to help.  He had been praying for an opportunity like this.  They will continue to make the journey to La Plata weekly to assist Team La Plata in the three Hora Felices they will do.  Hugo plays the guitar and seems to have a gift with the children…they flock to him.  He tells the story of the “Wordless Book”. I don’t know how many people are familar with that story, but if not…google it!  It is a wonderful story.

Ruth Hardin and I stayed behind for the first one to pray through the event.  When the group got back, we of course were envious that we weren’t there to see the wonders of God.  Apparently, unexpectedly, our team was welcomed by the people of the villas (vee-shas).  The children came and the parents came as well.  Many contacts were made.  One woman even brought water, pop (soda), and even mate for the team!  It seems that blessings were dished out during their time there.  The outcome was so much more than what was anticipated, everyone was energized!  God was faithful to His faithful.

Everyone came “home” for lunch, which was spaghetti (made by Anna and Norma) and bread.  Again, all I can say is…yuuuummmmmma!  Of course, siesta was welcomed.

For the 2nd Hora Feliz, Ruth and I were video and camera technicians!  We met at Brian and Tara’s, where each clown was paired with one of the team members who spoke spanish.  We walked to the park area via the neighborhood streets.  Children would yell out, “payaso” (clown) and Gary would wave dramatically and hand-out sucker.  Doing this, we hoped to draw the kids to the park.  Some of the children even wanted to have their picture taken with the clown.  We eventually made our way to the park and as the other clowns came, so did the children.  They began to gather, while Hugo was just softly walking around playing his guitar.  Eventually Hugo began conversing with the kids and telling them about a game they were going to play, something similar to Simon Says.  After a few games, Hugo got them to sit down and he handed out leather bracelets with multi-colored beads on them.  He also handed out the little “wordless books” and told the story.  He also prayed with them.  Their precious little heads bowed and repeating the prayer was so beautiful to watch!  As a closing, they handed out more candy and balloons.  The clowns actually  made balloon animals.  All in all it was a wonderful day…glorious weather…and successful Hora Felices.  The team was truly encouraged and energized after today!

Have I discussed today food?  OK…I did talk about lunch…dinner was lasana.  I believe it was made with the same sauce that was used for the spaghetti.  The lasana (lasagna) had so many layers…also included ham.

Gary and Herb are posting pictures if you would like to take a look.

Love to everyone at home!

  1. Hi Kellie,
Great job and so very interesting to hear what you all are doing!
Your lasagna with ham sounds like a good recipe for our Apples of Gold.

Continuing love and prayers for you and the whole team there,

    Jan Owen

  2. HI Kellie,
Thanks for all the info. It’s great to keep up with what’s going on there.
Hey – I just found out something – you work with my daughter-in-law (Freda Tipton)’s mother – Sandy! We were over at Rick and Freda’s and talking about Tara and Brian and the team that’s there and Sandy told us her co-worker was in Argentina also. Isn’t that something?
God Bless you all as you serve Him!
    Love,
    Marty
