Day Five

Today we set out early to visit 2 local churches in La Plata. The first church was out in the country.  When we arrived at the church we had a very warm and friendly greeting.  I believe each member of the church kissed us on the cheek and said Hola!  Norma and Anna the ladies that have been cooking our meals were at the service it was nice to see some familiar faces. When the church service began I couldn’t understand a thing but instantly recognized the worship. Amazingly!!! The Holy Spirit transcends all languages.

After the first service we went to the home of Steve and Wilma Bailey. They are one of the mentors for our GBC missionaries in La Plata. Steve was born and raised in Landover, MD which is not to far from Calvert County. Gary and Linda McCaman were also at the Bailey’s home they too are mentors for the La Plata group.  They treated us to an Asado which is an Argentine Barbecue meaning a big feast of meats cooked over a grill. We spent the afternoon relaxing and enjoying terrific food and great company.

Around 7 pm we headed out to another church down the street from the Bailey’s and attended their service.  More kisses, hugs and warm smiles.  Butch and Gary were asked to tell the group what we had been doing in Plata.  After the church service we left to return to the house where we’re staying.

  1. I had a similar experience in a Baptist church in Mexico. Though I could pick out a few words, the pastor spoke too fast for my comprehension. I read the passage in my Bible, and praised God for His church coming from every tribe and nation. May God bless this experience in your life, so you may continue to glorify Him.
